Our Suzuki history..

In 1986, when I was five, my father Roger brought a brand of motor vehicles to Kingsbridge, which although relatively unheard of at the time he was confident would suit the needs of the customers he cared for so dearly.

It is fair to say that as I grew up I lived and breathed the Suzuki brand. Enjoying their vehicles from the quirky and iconic models of the 80’s and 90’s all the way through to the great value range they offer today.

Suzuki’s vehicles have earned a growing reputation as being one of, if not, the most reliable vehicles you can own.

Over the last 39 years it has become more and more common place to see the people of Kingsbridge and the South Hams nipping around in their much loved Suzuki's purchased from and looked after by our team.

Sadly, as the world progresses to electric vehicles (EV), Suzuki has not managed to get the timing of their transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) to EV as rapidly as the UK Government’s timescale demands.

As a result, to avoid large financial penalties, they are having to restrict the number vehicles they register this year, next year and maybe for more years to follow. In the opinion of Suzuki GB, it has become necessary to reduce the number of their dealers to protect the profitability and longevity of the dealers they retain.

In January this year, Suzuki GB informed approximately a quarter of their dealers that they would no longer be a part of the UK dealer network.

Extremely regretably, we were one of that number and given 12 months notice of termination of our Sales agreement with Suzuki GB.

We retain our authorised Suzuki Service Centre agreement including the ability to complete warranty procedures.

Our Suzuki future..

Firstly, most importantly, the committment we have to our customers remains as steadfast now as it has been for over one hundred and eleven years, since 1914.

I've heard it said by Jimmy Carr that...

"Problems are not a bug they are a feature."
"Problems are thought of in the wrong way."
"People think of problems as problems."
"A problem is just something which needs your attention."

Having given our new found situation time and attention, the easy decision has been taken to continue as an authorised Suzuki Service Centre.

Suzuki GB may no longer wish us to sell their cars but we know they continue to offer quality vehicles with all the tech you need matched with fantastic reliability.

By continuing as a Suzuki Service Centre, we will ensure our ability to continue to support Suzuki owners throughout the potential 10 years of their service activated warranties and the whole lifespan of the vehicles beyond.

We should also be able to source any used, nearly new and even the odd new Suzuki you're looking for with a little help from our friends.

I am both excited and proud to be able to announce to you that we have now entered into an agreement with KGM to join their UK dealer network.

Previously known as Ssangyong, with 70-years of experience in vehicle manufacturing in Korea, it is no wonder that KGM is growing so rapidly in the UK.

Our beginning with KGM..

From humble beginnings in the Ha Dong-Hwan Motor workshop in 1954, KGM continues to evolve and now leads the charge with a range of awarding-winning vehicles.

The knowledge and experience that has been gained in over 65-years of production is the reason why all vehicles in the range have a comprehensive 5-year warranty.

Whilst we get ready for our next chapter in 2026 it is important that we don't forget what we have been doing well for so many years.
